The cast of the Ramadan television drama “Bint Min Shibra”, starring Egyptian actress Laila Elwi, has celebrated the completion of the final scenes of the series at the Media Production City expressing their happiness for not airing the second half of the drama during the holy month. The second half of the series has been postponed to be aired after the Muslim holiday Eid El Fitr in order to gain more viewer hits and have less competition as is the case during Ramadan where there is an excess of television dramas.
Director Jamal Abdul Hamid has revealed that an official report from the Al Azhar Mosque and the Coptic Church clearly states that the drama is a good one and there is no opposition against airing it. The final episodes are currently being prepared to have them ready for broadcast in the upcoming few days, reported the Qatar based daily, Al Raya.
Elwi ended the commotion she had created by going on strike and refraining from shooting the remaining scenes of her Ramadan television drama series “Bint Min Shibra”. The actress called off the strike on the notion that she did not want to ruin her image or that of Egyptian drama in front of Arab viewers.
It was revealed that the Kuwaiti television threatened to file a lawsuit demanding 10 million US dollars in compensation if it did not receive the remaining episodes of the drama due to the fact that it had already begun airing it since the beginning of Ramadan.
Recently, after officials at the Egyptian Broadcasting Company had decided to exclude Elwi’s drama “Bint Min Shibra” just hours before its scheduled airing, the actress decided to go on strike on not film the remaining scenes. Laila had announced that she will not shoot the four remaining scenes of the drama which consist of two indoors and two out, that need at least six days to complete.
A request to temporarily stop the filming due to the state of depression Laila and the entire cast of the drama fell into, due to the decision to eliminate the series. The cast denied rumors that the drama was excluded from broadcasting because of censorship reasons, stressing that the censorship had already given its acceptance. -Albawaba.com
