The management of the Cartage Film Festival has decided to honor Egyptian renowned actor Ahmed Zaki in its forthcoming session to be held on October 16 through October 26, according to the Egyptian daily, Al Gomhuriya newspaper.
The honoring program will include screening some of Zaki's movies, like "Zawgat Ragol Mohimm" (Wife of a VIP), "Dhid Al Hukoomah" (Against Government), "Al Huroob" (The Escape), "Al Hobb Fawk Hadhabat Al Haram" (Love on the Pyramid), "Hasan Al Lool" and "Al Nimer Al Aswad" (The Black Tiger). Another movie, "Ayyam Al Sadat" (Days of Sadat) will be screened for the first time during the opening ceremony of the festival to be inaugurated by the Tunisian Minister of Culture, Abdul Baqi Al Hirmas and star Ahmed Zaki.
Egypt will participate in the official contest of the festival with "Muwaten, Mukhber Wa Harami" (Citizen, Detective and Thief). The movie starring Khaled Abul Naja, pop singer Shaaban Abdul Rahim, Salah Abdulla and Tunisian actress Hind Sabri, is directed by Daoud Abdul Said, who has received an invitation to attend the film screening and conference afterwards.
Another movie is "Al Saher" (The Magician) starring Mahmoud Abdul Aziz and Salwa Khattab and directed by the late director Radhwan Al Kashef.
On another tone, Zaki is seen busy these days holding meetings with scenarist Bashir Al Dik to discuss their upcoming project "Al Embarator" (The Emperor) TV series.
Earlier last month, Zaki has called on all the Arab stars to play a more positive role in expressing their opinion toward the political issues, which are taking place worldwide. "Why don't we all agree on producing a movie that tackles the Palestinian issue," said Zaki, who showed willingness to take part in such movies even if his participation would be limited to one scene only. - Albawaba.com
