Ahmed Khalil to Shoot Naguib Mahfouz’s ‘Moonlight’

Egyptian actor Ahmed Khalil will begin in few days shooting his role in the series Noor al Amar (Moonlight) based on the story of the Noble prize winning writer Naguib Mahfouz under the direction of Sami Mohammed Ali, according to the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat. 

Khalil will play the role as university professor Shafiq Enayat who struggles for dismissing the British occupation. The series belongs to the social and political genre and takes place in the forties. 

Costarring in the series Samiha Ayyoub, Ahmed Rateb, Zizi al Badrawi and Riyadh al Khouli.  

Khalil is also gearing up to shoot a new series entitled Nasr Allah under the direction of Osama Qasem and produced by the TV Production Department. Costarring in the series are Madeline Tabar, Sayyed al Qadi and a large number of actors and new faces. 

He also joined the cast of the series al Zahir Baybars directed by Shirin Qasem as a member of Jenkeez Khan family, Barakeh Khan. He started studying the character, living it and preparing the wardrobe that suits it. 

Costarring in the series are Ahmed Maher, Dalal Abdel Aziz, Samirah Abdel Aziz, Manal Salameh, Hasan Abdel Hamid, Rashwan Tawfiq, al Sayyed Radi and Futooh Ahmed. The story was written by the late writer Taha Shalabi and depicts an important historical era in Egypt during the tenure of the Mamlouk This is depicted through the character of al Thaher Baibers who was a Mamlouk and then became a king. 

The latest performance by Khalil was in the series Hadith al Sabah Wa al Masaa (Morning and Evening Talk) based on the story of Naguib Mahfouz. He played the role as Ata al Marakibi along with Laila Olwi, which was hailed by critics for the actor’s excellent performance -- Albawaba.com
