Ahmad Zaki diagnosed with lung cancer

The medical tests Egyptian prominent actor Ahmad Zaki underwent in France have resulted in his diagnosis of lung cancer. According to sources accompanying the actor in his medical trip, it is revealed that a number of tests are to be done on the actor to see how much into his body the cancerous tumors have spread which started in his lungs. 

 

According to the Saudi based daily, Al Watan, it is yet unknown how severe the actor's condition is, but it is hopeful that doctors will be able to hinder the spread of the tumors. It was added that the actor will undergo surgery in the upcoming days and will remain in France for some time. 

 

Earlier this week, Zaki headed to France to undergo medical treatment, after strict orders were given from Egyptian President Husni Mubarak to have the actor treated in Paris due to a sudden failure in his health. The President also stressed that the actor’s medical treatment will be covered financially by the government.  

 

The actor was first treated in his home for over five days after he was struck with a sever lung infection due to excessive smoking, which resulted in the accumulation of water in the lungs. He was then taken to a local private hospital and doctors ordered him to immediately stop smoking for his life was in danger and when nothing more could be done for him in Egypt, the President ordered his transferal to France.  

 

The Egyptian hospital was forced to forbid any visitors to the actor after an influx of actors and actresses started coming to check on his health. It was revealed that the illness the actor is suffering from can only be treated in France or the United States of America.  

 

Recently, the Egyptian Production Company begun taking on different measures with the start of the New Year aiming to produce better quality films that will surely bring in large profits. The company has taken on the initiative of producing more films that are of high standards presenting a positive outlook towards the Egyptian cinema.  

 

Mamdouh Al Laithi, head of the cinema organization, said that the rise of the company's capital, which has reached 300 million EGP, a large number of films will be produced that will revive Egyptian cinema that are of excellent quality, adding that this year they will be producing ten movies. Among the first movies to be produced will be "Rasael Bahar" (Letters from Sea), written and directed by Daoud Sa’eed, and Ahmad and Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram have been nominated for the leading role in the film.  

 

Zaki has recently agreed to accept the leading role in a new film to be written and directed by Ahmad Maher. Ahmad has already begun holding work sessions with the director in order to choose the proper locations to shoot the film and make a number of alterations to the script.  

 

The film is scheduled to begin shooting of the scenes in early March 2004. It was revealed that an Italian actress will be costarring with Ahmad as well as the nomination of Hind Sabri and Amro Waked. –Albawaba.com
