Six prominent Egyptian female stars have decided to head to television dramas this year in the hope of keeping their image, after not being able to shine in the cinema as they did in their younger years. This Ramadan, Muslim fasting month, television viewers will have the chance to watch the six actresses in different social dramas starting with Nadia Al-Judi in [Mishwar Imra'a], Laila Elwi in [Bint Afandeena], Yusra in [Liqa' Ala Hawa'], Elham Shahin in [Bint Afandeena, Imra'a Min Nar], Mirvat Amin in [Ahel Al-Rahma], and Poussi in [Ahlam Hind Al-Khashab].

Among these six actresses only Yusra is still in contact with cinema and has starred in different films throughout the year. Last year while she was filming the TV Drama [Malak Rohi] she also acted in the movie [Ma’ali Al-Wazeer] and [Iskindiria-NewYork] and this year while filming TV drama [Liqa' Ala Hawa'] she insisted to film at least one scene from her new movie [Kalam Fil Hob].

Yusra says that the cinema is her true passion and that is why she keeps in touch with it while acting in different TV dramas. Her new drama talks about a Talk Show announcer who faces pressures due to the nature of her show. The drama is costarred by Hisham Sileem, Hassan Husni, Hassan Zaher, and Sumaia Khashab and directed by Mohammed Najjar.

Nadia Al-Jundi is back to the small screen after 25 years of absence and says that her return is because new producers are dominating the market and want to introduce new faces so she preferred to be away for the time being.

Her TV drama [Mishwar Imra'a] is written by Mustafa Muharram and costarred by Mustafa Fahmi, Khaled Zakki, and Mohammed Riyad, and directed by Mohammed Riyad. The drama talks about a common girl who struggles to be somebody and succeeds at the end.

Laila Elwi in her TV drama [Bint Min Shibra] performs the role of a Greek girl who refuses to leave her home country [Egypt] and falls in love with an Egyptian Muslim man who rectifies lots of her wrong concepts.

Elham Shahin says that only comedy movies are dominating the market these days so most of her generation who are looking for good cinema just turned their interest to TV. Elham adds that she recently finished her latest movie entitled [Khali Min El-Kolestrol] with Ashraf Abdul Baqi and directed by Mohammed Abu Seif.

About her roles in TV, Elham says that she was able to take part in two TV dramas for Ramadan [Bint Afandina] scenario by Mohammed Galal and direction by Mohammed Abu Seif. Elham performs the role of a peasant and the landlord tries to take her as his lover but under her constant refusal he decides to marry her and she becomes a community star.

Mirvat Amin had been away from the cinema since her last movie [Ayyam Al-Saddat] because she cannot find herself in the new cinema so she preferred to be away till she finds the right role. About her latest TV drama [Ahel Al-Rahma], Mirvat said her character is a girl whose father gets in prison despite being innocent and she tries with her sister to prove his innocence.

Poussi is playing the role of Hind Al-Khashab in her latest TV drama [Ahlam Hind Al-Khashab]. Hind is a very successful lawyer who seeks to be a judge but she couldn’t achieve that so she prepares her daughter in order to fulfill her dreams. –Albawaba.com
