A joint Syrian Egyptian TV series under the title of Qais and Lubna is currently being filmed in Cairo, according to the daily Syria Times.

The series director and producer Hamdi al Abrashi have chosen Syrian actor Qais Sheikh Najib to play the role of Qais, while Miss Egypt in 1999 Inji will play the role Lubna. The cast of the series also includes Mohammed Wafiq, Sawsan Badr, Mohammad al Dafrawi, Jamal Ismael and others.

The poems included in the series were written by Abdel Rahman al Abnoudi.

The series casts light on the story of the young man Qais who comes from the city to the desert where he meets Lubna and falls in love with her. The father of the girl stands in the face of this love, but love defeats traditions at the end of the series.

Sheikh Najib has played important roles in a number of Syrian TV series including Hijret al Quloub Ila Al Quloub (the emigration of hearts to hearts), al Mizan (the scale) and Arwah Muhajira (emigrant spirits) – Albawaba.com
