Egyptian writer Mustafa Muharram said that he couldn’t size up the extent of acceptance by the audience of his TV series A’elat Al Hag Mitwalli (Mitwalli’s Family) which is being screened during Ramadan, according to the daily Al Gomhuria.

“The way I handled the new series differs from that of my previous series Lan Aesha Fi Gilbab Abi. I presented Abdel Ghafour while he was in his first steps on the way but Mitwalli in the new series constitutes a different and new style. The character is very much enlightened, different in thinking and does not start from the scratch. He has also some sort of opportunism which is not the character of Abdel Ghafour,” Muharram told the daily.

The writer revealed that he had based the forty plus episodes on the status quo he lived during childhood and became deeply rooted in him. This is because his family lived in the working class neighborhood of Sayyidah Zainab in which he grew up and made friends including those who trade in textiles.

“I grew up in this typical Egyptian climate and so I understand this character and recognize its real features. I discovered that the textile trade world was full of events. I knew from my textile trading friends some real secrets, which I included in the series. There are some merchants who own 20-30 shops nationwide and have monopoly over this type of trading. They trade with millions of pounds and import various textile raw materials and resell them worldwide,” added Muharram.

The writer said, “Mitwalli is an honest merchant with no roots or relatives and whom we do not know anything about his family. By time he becomes bigger and important and builds a family. Even his four marriages were based on Shariah (Islamic rules) as he is just and against divorcing any of his wives. He also defines his objectives and knows how to choose his wives each of whom represents a certain important thing to him. In spite of his polygamy, he is a faithful and honest husband. In addition to that he uses his intelligence and planning to achieve his objectives – Albawaba.com
