The Cultural Academy in Abu Dhabi is currently preparing for launching a cinematic cultural project by founding The Emirates Cinematic, according to the daily Syria Times.
It is a massive museum for Arab and foreign films in addition to a huge archive of important cinema documents for different periods.
The project is the outcome of a three-year study of the content of the museums and the events that could be held in this museum.
The founding meeting will be held during the period between May 4-11. It will be accompanied by the week of Algerian Cinema and the honoring of Algerian filmmaker Ali Kweirat. The event will be attended by a number of outstanding Arab filmmakers and actors.
The project is considered a turning point in the film industry in the United Arab Emirates, especially concerning giving momentum to the local cinematic production through ensuring a large number of feature films and rich data about films and actors. It will also be a meeting point for local and Arab filmmakers to exchange visions and refine talents.
Syrian cinema director Mohammed Malas told the daily that the Emirate Cinematic will benefit from the Algerian experience which dates back to 1964. Director of the Algerian Cinematic has recently visited Abu Dhabi and provided the cultural Academy with 20000 feature films to be the nucleus of the Emirate Cinematic – Albawaba.com
