Preparations are currently underway at the Media Production City in Cairo to begin shooting the biggest TV series on the Palestinian issue since 1948.
The series entitled al Kharaz al Mulawwan (Colored Beads) is a joint Egyptian Saudi production. It is based on the story of the press writer Mohammed Salmawi, scripted by Mohammed al Basousi and directed by Samir Yousef.
The Egyptian actress Yusra has been nominated to play the starring role in the series along with more than 100 actors and actresses being nominated. An initial hefty budget of five million pounds has so far been allocated for the series.
“The series would be an Arab patriotic epic. It would tackle the Palestinian issue since 1948 to date,” the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat cited the Saudi producer Munir Zaki, who will collaborate with the Egyptian Production Department in the series production through his company al Fadi for Art Production, as saying.
Zaki reiterated that “the project has not faced any problem with the censors and most of the scenes will be shot at real sites in Jordan and Lebanon. But as far as Palestine is concerned, a special set will be designed at the Media Production City.”
He added, “the series after being wrapped up will be translated into English and French and its duplication in these languages will be studied to convey a message to the western world about the true picture about the events.”
Munir confirmed that the production is currently under the supervision of Jerusalem Committee headed by Salman bin Abdel Aziz, Prince of the Saudi capital district of Riyadh, in order to overcome all obstacles and produce the series in the best honorable form that suits Arabs -- Albawaba.com
