Emirati students honoured at EMAL summer training ceremony

At a ceremony held on Thursday 28^th July 2011 at EMAL’s Al Taweelah smelter, 29 Emirati students were awarded certificates for successfully completing the 2011 Summer Training Programme. The programme is an integral part of EMAL’s corporate strategy to solicit opportunities for Emiratis in delivering diversification for the UAE’s economy. 

Vice President for Human Resources and Corporate Efficiency, Abdelhakeem Al Mushtaghil, said: “We are delighted to award the students their certificates in recognition of the interest and commitment they have displayed during the summer programme. This year’s programme was a new and expanded version and we plan to improve it further in the future.  These bright students are the next generation of UAE work force.” 

After receiving their certificates, the students spoke about their experiences. All the students said that they had learnt a lot and during the Summer Trainee Program they were able to link the academic knowledge with real experience. Mariam Khaled Mubarek Al Kindi said she was impressed commenting: “I was not prepared for the physical size of the plant, nor the dedication required to implement the production plan” She added the programme was both “educational and fun”.  Mohamed Juma Ali Mohamed Ahli commented that he “had learnt many things” particularly the disciplines of “being punctual and working to a schedule.” Abdullah Mohammed Jafar Mohammed Al Katheeri said: “I learnt how aluminium is produced, how it is cast and how the moulds work.” He added: the people “at EMAL taught me everything about EMAL and I found many UAE Nationals are working there.” 

The Summer Training Programme provides Emirati students with the opportunity to experience all aspects of the business that makes EMAL a leader in the global aluminium market. The programme is only one of a number of opportunities for Emirati students and graduates to experience working for EMAL.
