ALBAWABA - Recent concerns have come up among TikTok users regarding the sudden disappearance of music sounds from the popular platform. The relationship between TikTok and the music industry has been a growing and important one with both artists and labels, who in turn utilize the platform as a key tool for promoting their work.
The platform has even been developing a dedicated music app called TikTok Music, currently going through beta testing.
While TikTok creators often added short music clips to enhance their videos, the absence of Universal Music Group's music on the platform caused a significant impact. Major artists affiliated with the label no longer have their music available for users to feature in their videos.

Following a failed licensing agreement negotiation, Universal Music Group decided to remove its music catalog from the popular video creation platform. As a result, users can no longer create new videos featuring the label's artists, and previously shared videos containing Universal Music Group songs have had their audio removed due to copyright restrictions.
The rift between TikTok and Universal Music Group deepened as the label alleged disagreements over artist compensation, artificial intelligence safeguards, and platform security.
TikTok responded by accusing Universal Music Group of being "greedy and deceitful" and emphasized its role as a platform for talent discovery and promotion with over a billion users.
This conflict adds to Universal Music Group's previous legal issues regarding platforms using artificial intelligence technologies. The company has faced challenges over the use of copyrighted lyrics by its artists in AI models.
