Video: Elephant stomps tourist to death in South Africa

ALBAWABA - A video circulated across social media after capturing an angry elephant stomping a man from Spain to death. The shocking footage went viral worldwide with many social media users wishing the man's family condolences. 

The footage in question was taken from what seems to be a vehicle as an elephant was seen rushing towards it knocking it down and furiously stomping on it. According to CNN, the incident took place in South Africa’s Pilanesberg National Park.

It seems the unknown man who is from Spain left the vehicle to take close-up photos of animals in the park which might've angered the elephant. His fiance and two other women accompanied him and they were on-board a private vehicle, according to local police.

According to local police, The man "spotted three elephants with three calves" and they went to take a closer look at them after stopping the vehicle in which he was attacked by them. 

In addition, he did not listen to several warnings from his fellow passengers and occupants from other vehicles. Then, an elephant rushed at him and he tripped and couldn't evade them resulting in his death. 

A Spanish news outlet confirmed that plans from authorities in Spain are being made to take back the tourist’s body.
