The Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology, and messaging platform Telegram, removed more than 15 million online items of content and closed down 6,824 channels in 2022.

Etidal said it cleaned the World Wide Web by removing 15,021,951 material online.
In cooperation with the online portal Telegram, it also closed down 6,824 channels that allegedly publish extremist content.

News of Etidal's work is published in the Saudi Gazette with the daily removing content related to three terrorist organizations of Al Qaeda, ISIS and Hay'at Tahrir Al Sham). Last year, the three are said to have published extremist content through 3,616 channels, but all have been removed.
Etidal is a Saudi organization whose goal is to fights extremist ideology. It spreads the principles of tolerance, moderation, and promotes opportunities for world peace.
One blogger scoffed at the effort, saying it was a "total joke."

Etidal and Telegram continue their joint effort by cooperating and coordinating to remove extremist content published in the Arabic language, according to the Gazette.
It said that includes media files in various formats (PDF), as well as videos and recordings, to protect platform users from risks and exploitation attempts by circulating militant content.
