In a recent announcement, EgyptAir has implemented new regulations, restricting minors under the age of 18 from traveling outside Egypt without their guardians. The airline aims to ensure the safety and well-being of young travelers by enforcing these guidelines.

According to EgyptAir, minors traveling alone must obtain prior permission from the communication department, which falls under the Ministry of Interior’s Administration of Passports, Emigration, and Nationality. This requirement underscores the airline's commitment to maintaining a secure travel environment for unaccompanied minors.

Sports teams that have received approval from the Ministry of Youth and Sports are exempt from the prior permission requirement. However, this exception does not apply to sports teams holding only a letter from their sports federation.

The airline distinguishes unaccompanied minors as children traveling alone without the supervision of a sibling aged 16 or older, a parent, or a legal guardian. This includes cases where children are in a different class or cabin from their family members or guardians.

To comply with these regulations, minors and adolescents traveling without an adult must carry an identification document verifying their age and have a confirmed reservation in advance.

EgyptAir emphasizes that the transportation of unaccompanied minors under the age of two may not be approved. For those aged two to below six years, transportation is permitted, but they must be accompanied by a flight attendant during the journey.

The guardian is responsible for covering the flight attendant's ticket cost, and the EgyptAir unaccompanied minor form must be completed and signed by the guardian and/or parent(s). The authorized guardian must hand over the child at the departure airport, and the designated parent(s) or guardian(s) must meet the child upon arrival.

During the flight, additional flight attendants are required to accompany unaccompanied minors, and they are not allowed to occupy emergency exit seats. The ticket fare for unaccompanied minors is set at 100% of the applicable adult fare, plus the full fare for the flight attendants accompanying the minor.

By implementing these comprehensive guidelines, EgyptAir aims to prioritize the safety and well-being of minors traveling alone, reinforcing its commitment to providing a secure and reliable travel experience for all passengers.
