Dubai International Film Festival to host 3 volunteer recruitment days

The Dubai International Film Festival has scheduled three days of volunteer recruitment sessions for UAE residents of all nationalities and age groups interested in being part of its seventh edition from December 12 – 19, 2010.

The Festival is looking for more than 500 volunteers to assist in delivering one of the most popular cultural events of the year, which will see the best of world cinema and a pantheon of talent from around the world in Dubai.

The volunteer drive for DIFF 2010 will be held on November 22, 23, and 27 in Dubai's Knowledge Village auditorium. The first session, on November 22, is exclusively for UAE nationals and will be held from 6pm to 8pm. The second session, on November 23, welcomes returning volunteers from previous editions of DIFF from 6pm to 9pm. The final session, on November 27, is open to all interested applicants and will be held from 5pm to 8pm.

Mohammed Alhousani, DIFF Human Resources and Volunteers Manager, said: "The film festival is a community event that brings together people from all walks of life. Over the years, several hundred people have volunteered their time and efforts for DIFF, and have benefited from the rich learning experience of putting together one of the biggest and most rewarding events in the UAE. We look forward to the strong participation of UAE residents this year too."

Potential volunteers must register online at www.dubaifilmfest.com and confirm their attendance on a specific date by e-mail to [email protected]. Successful applicants will receive orientation training and their assignments prior to the Festival opening.

In previous years, volunteers have included high school and undergraduate students, homemakers as well as executives who take time off their regular jobs to participate in DIFF. Volunteers are assigned to a variety of assignments including guest relations, theatre operations, transport management and red carpet supervision.

The seventh edition of Dubai International Film Festival 2010 will be held from December 12 to 19. DIFF 2010 is held in association with Dubai Studio City. Dubai Duty Free, Dubai International Financial Centre, Dubai Pearl, Emirates Airline and Madinat Jumeirah, the home of the Dubai International Film Festival, are the principal sponsors of DIFF.

The event is supported by the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture). Accreditation for DIFF 2010 is now open, and the DIFF box office will open in late November.
