In an initiative to support people in need in the UAE, DP World has signed an agreement with Dubai-based humanitarian organisation Beit Al Khair Society to hold a fund-raising campaign in support of charity projects run by the Society.

The agreement has been signed by Mohammed Sharaf, Chief Executive Officer, DP World, and Abden Tahir Al Awadi, Director General, Beit Al Khair Society.

The company plans to raise money for Beit Al Khair’s charity work by holding a raffle for staff during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The proceeds will be presented to Beit Al Khair at a special ceremony towards the end of the Holy month.

Beit Al Khair Society is a 22-year-old welfare body and is widely recognised for its sustained work helping the most economically fragile sections of the UAE’s society, including low-income families, widows, special needs people and orphans.

Mohammed Sharaf, Chief Executive Officer, DP World, said: “We are very pleased to reach out to the community, actively supporting the tireless social work of the respected Beit Al Khair Society. The DP World Charity Campaign is in line with our core corporate philosophy of involvement with the communities in which we operate. We look forward to the participation of our staff members in this worthwhile cause.”

Abden Tahir Al Awadi, Director General, Beit Al Khair Society, said: “We are extremely encouraged by the support of DP World. By encouraging its employees to take part in supporting Beit Al Khair Society, DP World is also spreading general awareness of the various charity and social welfare projects that we run. We thank this global company for this local initiative and appreciate its keen sense of corporate social responsibility.”
