DMA presents Musharaka: Excellence through knowledge scheme

In order to highlight the benefits that “Musharaka” a knowledge management (KM) network has brought to the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA), and the Emirate’s 3 Municipalities, Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain City, and Western Region, and in order to share its success with other governmental entities in the Emirate, the Department of Municipal Affairs presented its project “Musharaka” in front of representatives from the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a meeting held at the (DMA) premises.
Professor Allam Ahmed, Consultant Knowledge Management – Business Support Division at the Department of the Municipal Affairs presented the project with a full explanation about “Musharaka” and its positive effect on the DMA accomplishments through enhancing employee performance, productivity and boosting customer services in the Municipal Sector, saying “we hope that our success in this project will form an incentive for other governmental entities to apply this scheme in the near future, as it significantly improves quality, efficiency, and services offered by empowered employees”. Adding that knowledge is a major source for achieving a sustainable economic growth. Professor Allam added that “Musharaka” scheme, aims to build a leading economy based on knowledge and expertise and had become a big success in the municipal system.
Sarah Mubarak Al Mehairbi Knowledge Management Coordinator at DMA has also presented the audience with explanation of the program and its contents which consist of specialized practice library, and experience and skills guide, in addition to documents and news about the (DMA) and the Emirate’s Municipalities.
The project, named “Musharaka - Excellence through Knowledge” is a result of collaboration between the DMA and the Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Western Region Municipalities and aims to capture, store, distribute information and sharing knowledge assets among employees within the municipal system, creating more collaborative work ethic, where people use technology to share information and do their jobs more effectively.
The visiting delegation expressed his admiration of “Musharaka” program and its contents emphasizing the needs of further cooperation between both entities and the importance of knowledge management concepts to increase efficiency and productivity and enhance the competitive advantages of the companies and entities which apply such program.
In order to enhance this knowledge concept among employees, “Musharaka” had established a Knowledge Management Office in each municipality and appointed a total of 150, the so-called Champions in the DMA and three municipalities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, to guarantee a good flow of information and to share knowledge and experience among staff of the municipal system.
Knowledge management is essential for the DMA to achieve the goals of the Emirate’s 2030 vision in order to guarantee sustainable economy based on knowledge, innovation, expertise and interactive ideas across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and enables the municipal system to offer the residents, businesses and visitors of the Emirate, a better, quality driven municipal services.
The (DMA) was the first, among other governmental entities to launch a full scale concept of knowledge management and by doing so, it fulfills sub criteria of Abu Dhabi Business Excellence Award and highlights its commitment to the vision of the Emirate in driving it to become one of the best places in the world to live and work and visit.”
