Israeli troops shot and killed an armed infiltrator from Egypt on Wednesday, an Israeli security official said. According to Reuters, the infiltrator was among a group who penetrated the desert border area, and military forces were checking if they were militants, the official added.
"There was an armed squad who infiltrated Israel along the border with Egypt, one was shot by an Israeli force, the others dropped the bags they were carrying," whose contents were being examined, the official was quoted as saying by Reuters.
At least some of the infiltrators returned to Egyptian territory after the shooting incident, the Israeli official added.
