The Jordanian real estate market grew last year by 37.5 per cent compared to 2003, the latest figures from the Department of Lands and Survey (DLS) reveal.
According to the agency, the number of transactions, including houses and land acquisitions registered with the DLS last year stood at 111,914, compared to 81,382 in 2002, Jordan Times reported.
According to the DLS list, 1,552 non-Jordanians from 40 nationalities bought real estate valued at JD72.7 million during 2004. Saudis and Kuwaitis followed the Iraqis in terms of numbers.
In terms of the size of properties bought by non-Jordanians in 2004, the Saudis came top with their combined properties estimated at 2,554 dunums, for which 160 Saudi nationals paid about JD6 million.
